What about your clothes?
Loose, clean pajamas that you wash regularly. Minoxidil goes on your scalp, not your body, so your clothes matter less than your pillow, unless the drug is on your hands. The leaflet says that if you use your fingers, wash your hands with soap and water right away.8
Should I sleep with my hair covered after minoxidil?
Only if it is dry, and only if covering it solves a problem you have. If you sleep alone with no pet on the bed, uncovered dry hair is fine. If your pillow is shared, a loose cap is the simplest way to keep residue off it. Never cover wet hair.
Can I put a towel on my pillow instead of wearing a cap?
Yes, if you change it every night. A towel catches residue, but it is still the surface your face lies on and your cat sleeps on, and it shifts as you move. It works best if you sleep alone.
Is a shower cap okay to sleep in after minoxidil?
It isn't made for it. A shower cap is thin plastic made for a few minutes under water. It tends to slip off in the night, and if the band is tight it holds heat and moisture against your scalp. If you want a waterproof layer at night, choose a cap made to be slept in, and keep it loose.
